-Abyssian: Land Strider-
Land Striders are massive "herbivores" that walk around on characteristic stilt legs, giving them a surprisingly small footprint for their size. Their shoulder plates arch up above their bodies to create fin-like extensions, and they are very thin. Their tails are short and their heads are rabbit-like with a nondescript snout. Long fleshy antennae arch back from their heads and necks; the number of these indicate how many decades old the Land Strider is. They are coated with pastel-colored hair and have dark, unblinking eyes. They hear through recesses in their antennae clubs, cannot feel through their legs, and have poor eyesight. Communication is similar to whale song.
Land Striders are more impressive to look at than practical, though they do keep the number of visible plant souls at a minimum by stripping their energy. They are the most peaceful creatures in the Abyss, ignoring most everyone and are extremely docile. They move slowly enough that many creatures can safely walk and rest on their backs. There are no legends for Land Striders. They do grow up like mortal creatures, but their origin has yet to be found. |
